Day four
It was another full day of classes at CCI. We started out the day with a lecture on grooming and then I got to groom my new service dog. We did some practicing outside with the dogs - we mainly walked them through the parking lot which was filled with distractions (tennis balls, dog toys, other dogs, people, and treats). We had a visit from a vetrinarian who gave a presentation on canine health and we asked questions. Following his lecture we had two practice sessions on retrieving items. This was our first class that actually focused on the dogs doing "working" commands. My new service dog did pretty well, but was a little put out when it realized it missed the kennel feeding time and had to work through dinner. All the dogs were pretty wore out by the end of the day. We recieved supplies for our dogs including grooming supplies, toys, and dog food. Tomorrow night by new dog will come back to the hotel with me for our first overnight. I am pretty excited to have my dog away from the center.
As you may have noticed I am not posting who my new dog is because I want each of you to find out when you see it (which will happen sooner than you think!) for yourself.
Check your mail!!!!
